My name’s Natalie Hanrion, and I’m the owner of Archaic Costumes and Designs, LLC. I love making historically-inspired costumes, but don’t like to stress about sewing “rules.” I appreciate that there’s a place in the world for classical training and historical accuracy, especially for educational purposes, however, I just love the freedom to create what comes to mind. So I like mixing from many different styles, eras, etc.

I think this mantra for myself comes from the free rein my mom would give me of her sewing machines when I was very young, without any real proper instruction (beyond watching her). I learned via trial and error that way, and it gave me an invaluable insight into materials and adhesives.

In addition to costumes posted in my Etsy shop or featured in my social media pages, I also take commissions (depending on the project specifications and needs). So please contact me if you’re interested in a custom piece!
